Doy gracias a Dios por la bondad que se entrelaza en mi vida diaria. En uno de mis primeros días en Agua Prieta, mientras paseaba en bicicleta junto al imponente muro fronterizo, pensé: “Si me hubieran dicho hace un año que estaría aquí, habría pensado que estaban locos”. Entonces, rápidamente, me recordé a mí mismo que les habría creído. Siguiendo el llamado de Mateo 25, Miqueas 6:8, Salmo 82:3, Santiago 2:14-17, y otros, mi fe se fundamenta en el amor y la acción. Aunque no sé qué me depara el futuro, me aferro a lo que sé que es cierto hoy: Dios no quiere que temamos lo que viene, sino que asumamos fielmente la responsabilidad y la relación con nuestro prójimo....

I give thanks to God for the goodness woven into my daily life. On one of my first days in Agua Prieta, while riding my bike along the imposing border wall, I thought, “If you had told me a year ago that I’d be here, I would’ve thought you were crazy.” Then, just as quickly, I reminded myself that I would have believed you. Following the call of Matthew 25, Micah 6:8, Psalm 82:3, James 2:14–17, and others, my faith is grounded in love and action. And though I don’t know what the future holds, I cling to what I know is true today: God does not want us to fear what is coming, but to faithfully embrace responsibility and relationship with our neighbor.
